HILL HOUSE

The house was an original 1900s cottage which had been extended in the 1980s. The original fabric was lovely but the extension was not sympathetic and had some significant flaws. We retained the heritage rooms and reinstated the detailing.

The aim was to maximise the heritage charm of the cottage and complement that with contemporary, clean living spaces that were open, light, flowing and easy to live in. A new stair and two storey extension was added at the rear. It maximised ceiling heights, improved levels, circulation and views.

The timber lined kitchen area provides a contrast from the adjacent living area and a sense of entry on coming into the home.

The ceiling, walls and bench are all soft timber finish and make the space feel cozy and defined, adding visual interest and making the spaces more dynamic.
