Cottesloe House

This house was a joint venture with Bates Smart Architects. 

Built for a retired couple it maximises protection from seaside winds with a protected courtyard back from the street. the single storey house has open plan living and kitchen with a bedroom wing beyond the outdoor space. It uses rammed limestone as external walls and rough limestone on garden walls.  

Limestone being a popular and readily available local material. 

The house won the AIA Marshal Clifton Award in 2010.
